One of the things I struggled with before I adopted a regular skincare routine was dull skin in serious need of some glow. I really desired that dewy, clear, bright skin but I really didn’t know where to start!

It’s true that uneven skin tone and texture can make you look tired and older beyond your age, and most of us face some degree of uneven skin tone and pigmentation and texture.

But how do you achieve radiant skin naturally?

Genetics, lifestyle choices, hormonal changes and scarring can all contribute to dull, uneven skin tone and texture, making you look tired and older beyond your age. In this article, we’ll learn 5 ways to combat discolouration, dark spots and dull skin once and for all!

5 WAYS TO ACHIEVE RADIANT SKIN NATURALLY

1. Exfoliate Your Face At Least 2x A Week

Uneven skin texture is often a result of excess dead skin build-up on the uppermost layer of the skin or enlarged pores. This causes the skin to scatter light instead of evenly reflecting it, resulting in a loss of glow and radiance.

Clay Mask are a great way to physically exfoliate without being too abrasive. Or you could use a chemical exfoliator as well. They effectively draw out grime, dirt and excess sebum build-up, whilst gently sloughing away those dead cells, leaving the skin clean, clear and smooth. Make sure you exfoliate at least twice a week, targeting the areas that feel uneven.

2. Use Oil-based Products To Regulate Sebum Production

If the texture on the majority of your face is smooth, but your t-zone is a little bumpy due to blackheads, then you might want to consider using an oil. That can seem a little counterintuitive especially if you have combination or oily skin, but trust me, your textured t-zone will benefit from the help of oil to regulate its sebum production.

Did you know that your skin can actually become oilier if you’re not giving it enough oil? Yup! using all those harsh cleansers will only strip away your natural oil sending your skin’s sensors to oil overproduction mode!

More sebum production equals more blackheads which equal uneven skin texture.

3. Use Vitamin C To Reverse Hyperpigmentation

Have you ever seen little dark patches on your skin and wondered where the heck they came from and what are they?

It’s only been within the last year that I have spied these little inconsistent dark spots on my face, and the term for them is – hyperpigmentation.

Caused by an increase in melanin (too much sun exposure) or trauma to the skin (like the time you picked at that pimple relentlessly).

To combat these total buzzkill spots, and attain the brightest, most even skin tone of your dreams, try using Vitamin C! It helps to brighten the skin’s appearance and reduce the signs of ageing such as pigmentation, sun damage, and dullness to reveal a clear complexion. Adding Vitamin C to your skincare routine will assist in fading existing dark spots and preventing new ones, but be patient with this product as results often take around 6 weeks to show, but it’s totally worth it.

4. Keep Your Skin Hydrated

Good skin texture is soft, smooth and well-hydrated!

If your skin is dry, rough and flaky in patches this makes the skin feel rough and uneven to the touch and also results in the skin looking dull, tired and in need of some glow. When skin is hydrated, it reflects light, making it appear more dewy and glowy. Usage of face mist can instantly soothe and refresh – but above all else, it’s wonderful for hydrating the skin, evening out skin tone, and reducing imperfections such as sun spots.

5. Always Apply Spf To Prevent Sun Spots

In order to protect your skin from any further damage, it’s essential to use a broad-spectrum, high-level SPF 30 (or higher) every day, whether you’re spending the day at the beach, or just running some errands in town. Your skin can be damaged even on a cloudy day from harmful UV rays, so seek shade and wear a hat when you can.

Having an uneven skin tone and texture is one of those annoying skincare qualms that doesn’t mean the end of the world but it’s annoying, to say the least. Whether you are dealing with dark spots or texture, be assured that there are plenty of options available to successfully remedy uneven skin tone and texture issues. Healthy skin isn’t an overnight process, it requires diligence, consistency and the use of high-quality, natural products to achieve the desired results.
